Iran's Majlis gives votes of confidence to 3 nominated ministers

Xinhua, November 1, 2016 Adjust font size:

Iran's Majlis (Parliament) gave votes of confidence on Tuesday to three proposed candidates by President Hassan Rouhani to reshuffle three ministries, Press TV reported.

The Majlis endorsed Reza Salehi Amiri for the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Massoud Soltanifar as the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, and Fakhroddin Ahmadi Danesh Ashtiani as the new Minister of Education.

According to the report, currently, Soltanifar serves as the vice president and the head of the Cultural Heritage, Handcrafts and Tourism Organization of Iran; Salehi Amiri heads the National Library and Archives Organization of Iran; and Danesh Ashtiani is a university professor.

Last month, the three ex-ministers submitted their resignation letters to President Rouhani following the criticisms by the opposition parties.

The four-year term for Rouhani will be over in August 2017 and the next presidential elections in Iran will be held in next May. Endit
