Jordanian government signed an agreement with a Kuwaiti company on Sunday for an investment project worth 1.5 billion U.S. dollars, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
The project, which will be undertaken by the Kuwaiti company Square Meter Real Estate, entails construction of several hotels, restaurants, stores and entertainment facilities.
The project will cover more than 200,000 square meters, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Economic Affairs and Investment Jawad Anani said at the signing ceremony.
According to Anani, the project, which will rely on green energy for generating electricity, is expected to help create jobs for Jordanians and support the kingdom's economy, especially its tourism.
He said Kuwait is the country that invests most in Jordan in terms of volume. Endit
