Spain's consumer prices rise 0.7 pct in Oct.

Xinhua, October 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

Spain's consumer prices rose 0.7 percent in October when compared with the same month of a year earlier, according to advanced data of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) published on Friday by Spain's Statistical Office (INE).

The figure is 0.5 percent higher than the annual inflation rate of September when prices rose by 0.2 percent year-on-year.

According to the INE, prices rose in October due to higher prices of electricity and fuels (including gasoline and diesel oil) as opposed to the decline experienced by these items in 2015.

The INE will confirm this data in November when it will provide more detailed information about the evolution of prices.

If the figure is confirmed, it would mean that consumer prices have been rising for two consecutive months year-on-year. September marked the first positive rate in nine months.

Meanwhile, the INE also reported that prices rose by 1.1 percent from September to October. Endit
