German rider Max Walscheid from Team Giant - Alpecin beat Brenton Jones of Drapac by a nose to win the photo finish on 7th stage Friday, and Alexey Lutsenko of Astana still keeps the leader' s yellow jersey after the stage.

Being another mountain stage, the 7th stage stretched from Wuzhishan to Sanya, covering a total distance of 127.40 kilometers with two climbs and one intermediate sprint.

As the shortest stage in Tour of Hainan 2016, it was meant to be one ride to forget. But the fierce competition among two riders made the stage title being full of suspense. After one amazing sprint, Walscheid defeated all his opponents by a matter of inches at the finish line.

Max Walscheid, the owner of green jersey by now, entrenches his advantage on sprint rank, while Alexey Lutsenko still takes the lead on general classification. Chinese rider Ma Guangtong claims the polka--dot jersey as the mountain king after the ride today.

"My teammates worked incredible hard to help me in the whole stage, and I also want to win, that make me fight hard before the finish line. After all that, I am very happy we made it," Walscheid said after the competition.

There are only two stages remaining of this year' s Tour of Hainan, and the next stage shall be taken place from Sanya to Qiongzhong, covering a total distance of 165.8 kilometers with three climbs. Endit
