Xinhua, October 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

Singapore's Prime Minister's Office (PMO) announced Friday the latest round of Cabinet changes with Ong Ye Kung and Ng Chee Meng promoted to full Ministers.

Ng Chee Meng will be Minister as Minister for Education (Schools) and concurrently the second Minister in the Ministry of Transport; and Ong Ye Kung will be Minister as Minister for Education (Higher Education and Skills) and concurrently the second Minister in the Ministry of Defence.

They will continue with their existing portfolios, added PMO in the statement. These promotions are part of leadership renewal and will take effect on Nov. 1, 2016.

Both Ng and Ong were elected as Members of the Parliament at the election in 2015 and were appointed acting ministers. They were widely seen as crucial members of the fourth generation of leaders. Enditem
