Profile: Guinean President Alpha Conde

Guinean President Alpha Conde is on a state visit to China from Oct. 26 to Nov. 4.

The following is a brief profile of the Guinean president.

Alpha Conde, 78, was born in Boke in the western Lower Guinea region. He studied in France when he was 15, and earned a doctor's degree in law. He then taught at the prestigious Sorbonne University in Paris.

Being leader of the ruling Guinean People's Assembly (RPG), Conde was elected president of Guinea in November, 2010, and was reelected in October, 2015.

Conde attended the Summer Davos forum in China in 2011.
