Myanmar gems emporium to exhibit heavy-weight jade stone

A giant jade stone weighting 210 tons, discovered in Myanmar and curved , is to be exhibited in the country's Mid -Year Gems Emporium next month, said an official of the emporium sponsoring committee Thursday.
The giant jade stone was excavated in a jade mine in Phakant township in the country's northernmost Kachin state in the second week of this month by the private Yadana Taungtan company in cooperation with the state-run Myanmar Gems Enterprise (MGE).
The mining production profit is shared by the government's MGE with 25 percent, while the company takes 75 percent.
The jade stone measuring 228 inches long, 180 inches wide and 168 inches high was separated into six pieces during excavation.
Myanmar Gems Enterprises assesses the value of jade stone as 566,408 U.S. dollars (727.835 million kyats).
The world's largest jade stone weighing about 3,000 tons was also discovered in Phakant in 2000.
The Mid -Year Myanmar Gems Emporium will be held on Nov. 20 to 29 in Nay Pyi Taw.
All of rough jade, gems, pearls and jewelries will be sold in Euro currency at the emporium. Gems lots and jade lots will be set for sale through open tender and competitive bidding. Endit
