Spotlight: CPC's stricter party governance expected to raise global confidence in China

Xinhua, October 26, 2016 Adjust font size:

An all-round strict governance of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is foreseen to inject fresh impetus into the 95-year-old party's political success and ensure a faster growth in China that will contribute more to the global economy.

With new disciplines and rules for intra-party political life and supervision to be its focus, the sixth plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee being held on Oct. 24-27 has drawn close attention from around the world.

The political wisdom and determination shown in the Chinese ruling party's latest move to improve its own health and leadership in state governance have been hailed by experts from different countries.

Dmitry Novikov, vice chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, praised the CPC's anti-corruption efforts to consolidate its leadership in state rule.

It is expected to help China stay on the path it has chosen to succeed and has led to new achievements in its drive to develop socialism with Chinese characteristics, said Novikov, who is also member of the Russian State Duma or the lower house of parliament.

The CPC's bid to strengthen party governance will push forward China's anti-corruption drive and create an environment that is conducive to the country's development, Ahmed Wali, a former Egyptian foreign minister assistant and an economic expert, told Xinhua.

"China's Belt and Road Initiative has brought new development opportunities for countries' along the routes, including Egypt. We hope the Communist Party of China will continue its anti-corruption work, ensure the continued rapid development of the Chinese economy and propel global economic growth," he said.

The CPC's intra-party democracy and capability to advance with time have long helped make it a success and a mainstay in China, rallying widespread support from the Chinese people, Wali said.

Noticing the link between the CPC's self-improvement and China's economic achievements under its leadership, Indonesian political analyst Li Zhuohui said that it has been the Chinese ruling party's good tradition to keep a strict party governance.

In his opinion, a ruling party has to advance with time, as any party would face new challenges in its course of development.

The ongoing conference enables the CPC to lift the institutionalization and rule of law in party governance to a new height, said Zheng Yongnian, director of the East Asian Institute, National University of Singapore.

Zheng thought an all-round strict party governance is the CPC's priority in building a moderately prosperous society in all respects as well as comprehensively deepening reforms and enhancing the rule of law in China.

Phosy Chanhming, director of China Studies Center under the National University of Laos, hailed the CPC effort towards tougher self-discipline, saying strict supervision is important for keeping a party and its members clean and trusted by the public.

Professor Macharia Munene, a Nairobi-based diplomacy scholar, said the CPC has scored a unique achievement to have grown from less than 100 members to more than 80 million in size.

As a result of its strict governance, the CPC has managed to maintain a positive and rapid development since its birth, he said, believing that new disciplines and rules adopted in light of the new situation will make the party stronger.

The CPC's efforts to combat corruption and uphold party values are key to winning the hearts and minds of the Chinese people, he said. Endi
