The Vietnam International Motorshow 2016 kicked off here on Wednesday, with the participation of 16 well-known brands in the world.

Audi, Bentley, BMW, BMW Motorrad, Infiniti, Lamborghini, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, MINI, Nissan, Porsche, Renault, Subaru, Suzuki, UD Trucks and Volkswagen are displaying a total of over 150 models. UAZ, a well-known Russian vehicle brand, has participated in the five-day expo as a guest.

Besides completely-built automobiles, the expo is featuring vehicles' components, spare parts, accessories, and related products such as oil and paint, and banking and insurance services.

The event will also include the Russ Swift stunt shows performed by Subaru from Thursday to Sunday, and a seminar on Vietnamese and international automobile industries on Thursday.

Vietnam spent over 4.3 billion U.S. dollars importing completely-built automobiles and components for assembly in the first nine months of this year, posting a year-on-year increase of 0.2 percent, said the country's General Statistics Office.

Specifically, Vietnam imported 77,000 completely-built automobiles worth more than 1.7 billion U.S. dollars from January to September, seeing year-on-year respective declines of 8.1 percent and 17.6 percent. Endit
