U.S. house prices rose 0.7 percent in August, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) reported Tuesday.
U.S. house prices rose by 0.7 percent in August from July on a seasonally adjusted basis according to the FHFA's House Price Index.
Compared with the same period of 2015, U.S. house prices have increased 6.4 percent, said the FHFA.
Eight of the nine census divisions witnessed price increase compared with July. The New England division, including Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut increased the most, up 1.2 percent from July.
The FHFA measured changes in real estate values using purchases of properties with mortgages backed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac. It did not provide a specific price for houses.
The U.S. housing market has kept solid in the first half of 2006 driven by sustained job growth and falling mortgage rates, however, narrowing stocks and advancing prices have darken its future growth prospect, according to the National Association of Realtors (NAR). Endit
