Xinhua, October 25, 2016 Adjust font size:

Nepal and India will make a comprehensive review of their bilateral issues during the fourth meeting of the Nepal-India Joint Commission (JC) on Thursday in New Delhi, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said here on Tuesday.

Minister for Foreign Affairs of Nepal Prakash Sharan Mahat and his Indian counterpart Minister Sushma Swaraj will co-chair the JC meeting in the Indian Capital.

"The two sides will discuss on early and effective execution of bilateral projects in Nepal. We will review the progress on connectivity, transport, border security, hydropower projects and inundation problems prevailing in Terai region of Nepal during the meeting," Mahat told media.

The foreign minister said that the meeting will stress on implementation of bilateral agreements and understandings reached during Nepali Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal's state visit to India last month.

"Our prime focus will be on reviewing Nepal-India ongoing projects and coming up with ways to complete them on time-bound manner," he added.

With the mandate of reviewing entire gamut of bilateral ties, the two South Asian nations established such a foreign ministerial level mechanism in 1987.

The third meeting of the mechanism was held in the Nepali Capital Kathmandu in July 2014 after a hiatus of 23 years.
