Good night for Atletico in La Awards

Atletico Madrid were the big winners in the 2015-16 La Liga Awards Gala which was held on Monday night.

Despite ending last season third in the Spanish Primera Liga, Atletico took five of the prizes on offer with Diego Simeone being named as the best coach of the campaign.

Jan Oblak was the best goalkeeper, Diego Godin the best defender and Antoine Griezmann was named as the Fans' Best Player and the Best Player in the League.

Other awards in the event, which was held in Valencia and broadcast around the world, went to Barcelona duo Leo Messi, who was voted the best striker, and Luis Suarez, who won the Prize for La Liga World Player.

Meanwhile Real Madrid's Luka Modric was considered the best midfielder, while Marcos Asensio, now at Real Madrid, was named the Revelation of the Season, for his campaign at Espanyol. Endit
