Indonesia to evaluate regeneration mechanism after failures in Denmark Open

An Indonesian minister said on Monday that a thorough evaluation on regeneration mechanism in Indonesian badminton was direly needed following the failures in Denmark Open.

"Therefore we encourage officials to carry out an internal evaluation. Preparation for the second-tier and third-tier players must be conducted better," Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nachrawi said in his office here.

He said that the plans to carry out the evaluation should be drafted in the upcoming national badminton congress scheduled from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1.

The minister said that the new mechanism must be capable to source for new talented players in the country.

After Indonesian Mixed Double players Tantowi Ahmad/Lilyana Natsir the got gold medal in the Rio Olympics, Indonesian badminton players failed to get any championship title in the recent Denmark Open.

Indonesia failed to place any player in final rounds in one of the world badminton sports' prestigious tournaments, which ended on Sunday. Endite
