Police bust illegal casino in Indian capital

Xinhua, October 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

Indian police Monday claimed to have busted an illegal casino in the national capital and arrested 36 people, mostly businessmen.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Delhi Police officials raided a farm house at Neb Sarai in southern Delhi and unearthed the illegal casino Sunday evening.

"We have arrested 36 people red-handed along with table tokens and dice. Cases have been registered under the Delhi Gambling Act," Deputy Commissioner of Delhi Police Ishwar Singh told the media.

Apart from the arrests, police have seized several bottles of liquor and more than 10 luxury cars, another official said.

"A manhunt has been launched to nab the owner of the premises, Harnendra Kaushik, as well as the mastermind, Kunal Chandra," he said.
