Two die in likely drug-trafficking shooting in south France: report

Xinhua, October 22, 2016 Adjust font size:

Two young men were shot dead overnight in the southern city of Marseille in a likely affair related to drug trafficking, the daily Le Figaro reported on Saturday.

The victims, a 21-year-old and a 22-year-old, were on their cars while two shooters on their scooter armed with Kalashnikov approached to them and opened fire before fleeing, the newspaper said citing a judicial source.

The scooter was found burnt later, it added.

A third victim who was on the car succeeded to run away. He suffered slight injuries, according to the report.

The causes of the shooting were not immediately identified but first elements pointed to a settlement of scores between gangs of drug traffickers.

So far 26 people have been killed in Marseille in affairs related to drug traffickers. Endit
