Eintracht Frankfurt cruised to a 3-0 victory after beating ten-man Hamburg following a one-sided affair at the opener of the 8th round in Bundesliga on Friday.

Hamburg still wait for their first win in the season as an own goal from Lewis Holtby, and second-half goals from Shani Tarashaj and Haris Seferovic secured Frankfurt the fourth win of the season.

Both sides staged a slow start as a result goal-scoring opportunities remained a rare occurrence in the first half. Frankfurt staged a well-positioned defence whereas Hamburg were unable to dictate the game on home soil.

Frankfurt worked out chances but it was an own goal from Lewis Holtby, who accidentally cleared Branimir Hrgota's square pass into the wrong goal to break the deadlock with 35 minutes into the game.

Hamburg lacked in penetration and ideas hence they were not able to get a shot on target after the first 45 minutes.

After the restart, things went from bad to worse for the hosts as Dennis Diekmeier was sent off following his second bookable offence in the 57th minute before Shani Tarashaj finished off Marco Fabian's assist from inside the box into the roof of the net three minutes later.

Ten-man Hamburg were unable to put up some resistance meanwhile Frankfurt pressed for their third goal. However, Fabian pulled just wide of the far post from promising position in the 63rd minute before Haris Seferovic utilized the second assist from the Mexican to put the game beyond doubt in the 70th minute.

"My team staged a good performance," Eintracht Frankfurt coach Niko Kovac said. "Our strategy proved to be successful today. I am very satisfied."

With the result, Frankfurt move on the 4th place for the moment while Hamburg stay on the 17th place after suffering the fourth loss in eight games.

The following fixtures are scheduled for Saturday: Bayer Leverkusen host Hoffenheim, Hertha Berlin face runner-up Cologne, Ingolstadt see Borussia Dortmund, Darmstadt encounter Wolfsburg, newly promoted Freiburg clash with Ausgburg and Monchengladbach visit front runners Bayern Munich. Endit
