11 more attackers on border posts arrested in Myanmar

Another 11 armed men have been arrested for involvement in violent attacks on Oct. 9 on three border posts in Maungtaw, Myanmar's western Rakhine state, according to the military-run Myawaddy News Thursday.

The 11 armed men were captured in Ngakhuya village in Maungtaw township when the government troops and police launched a clearance operation there on Tuesday.

The captured attackers are under interrogation, the report said.

According to the latest disclosure by Deputy Home Minister Maj-Gen Aung Soe, a total of 30 attackers including two women have been killed and 23 captured in a series of armed clashes between Myanmar government troops and hundreds of armed men in Maungtaw since three border posts were violently attacked.

Five soldiers and eight policemen also died in the clashes.

The three border posts are Kyikanpyi in Maungtaw , Kotankauk in Rathedaung and Ngakhuya Office.

Aqa Mul Mujahidin, led by Havistoohar and linked with terrorist organization of "Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO)" active in Maungtaw, has been blamed for the attacks.

Initial investigation showed that the terrorist attacks were supported financially by foreign terrorist organizations and involved some Islamic extremists. Endit
