Solid Buffon helps 10-man Juventus conquer Lyon

Xinhua, October 19, 2016 Adjust font size:

Gianluigi Buffon was the man for 10-man Juventus who won 1-0 away to Lyon in their Champions League Group H match on Tuesday thanks to an extraordinary Juan Cuadrado goal.

Second-half substitute Cuadrado earned the only goal for the Italian champions after 76 minutes, seven minutes after replacing Paulo Dybala as Juve were down to 10 men following Mario Lemina's sending-off at 54.

Italy's veteran keeper Buffon saved French forward Alexandre Lacazette's 35th-minute penalty and made a couple of decisive saves before Cuadrado struck the winner.

With the victory, Massimiliano Allegri's team remains top of the group with seven points from three games, ahead of Sevilla on goal difference as the latter won 1-0 away to Dinamo Zagreb.

Lyon follow the duo with just one point behind. Endit
