Xinhua, October 19, 2016 Adjust font size:

A military base in Nigeria's northeastern state of Borno came under attack Monday evening by militant group Boko Haram, the country's army said Tuesday.

Spokesperson for the Army Col. Sani Usman said in a statement made available to Xinhua that the ambush occurred in Gashigar, border area with Niger Republic, at 5:30 p.m. local time.

He said 13 soldiers sustained injured while some are still missing.

"The temporary setback made the troops to withdraw from the location," he added.

According to the spokesperson, the wounded soldiers have been evacuated and are receiving treatment, while efforts are ongoing in search of those missing and clear the Boko Haram terrorists in the area. Endit
