"Operation Mekong" dominates Chinese box office

The domestic crime action film "Operation Mekong" continued to lead the Chinese box office for the week ending Oct. 16, earning 276 million yuan (41 million U.S. dollars), China Film News reported Tuesday.

Domestic romance "I Belonged to You" took second place, generating 103 million yuan in the week after its release on Sept. 29.

"The BFG," a U.S. fantasy adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg, came third with 91 million yuan in sales after its debut on Oct. 14 in Chinese theaters.

"Mission Milano," a domestic comedy featuring Hong Kong star Andy Lau, ranked fourth, ringing up 26 million yuan last week.

Rounding out the top five was domestic war film, "The Warriors," which has grossed 20 million yuan since Oct. 14. Endi
