Iran's Foreign Ministry condemned on Sunday the recent terrorist attack in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula, reported the official IRNA news agency.

The Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qasemi expressed the ministry's condolences to the families of the victims as well as the Egyptian people and government.

Qasemi warned against the spreading regional terrorism and extremism, urging for global cooperation to combat this issue.

Egyptian security sources said on Friday that 12 soldiers were killed and six others injured in an attack against a security checkpoint located 85 km west of the town of Al Arish, Sinai Province's capital city. Enditem
