A speedboat with about 41 people on board has caught fire and capsized in eastern parts of Indonesia, leaving four people dead and two others missing, spokesman of search and rescue office said Sunday.

The sea incident occurred after the Bintang Pajar speed boat was departing from Jailolo seaport in Halmahera Barat of North Maluku province, Spokesman of National Search and Rescue Office Marsudi said.

The boat was bound for Ternate city, he revealed.

Scores of other passengers suffer from injury, according to the spokesman.

"Search and rescue operation for the missing persons is underway now," he told Xinhua via phone.

Speedboat is a favorite transport mean in Indonesia, an archipelago country with 17,500 islands, still lacking of safety standard has often triggered sea incident. Editem
