1st LD Writethru: 5 security personnel injured in terror attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir

Xinhua, October 14, 2016 Adjust font size:

At least five security forces personnel had been injured in a terror attack on the outskirts of Indian-controlled Kashmir's capital Srinagar Friday evening, a senior police official said.

"The attack was actually an ambush by the terrorists on a convoy of paramilitary Shashtra Seema Bal personnel on Hazratbal-Ganderbal Road in Zakura on the outskirts of Srinagar. The five soldiers who sustained injuries have been rushed to a hospital and said to be out of danger," the official said.

Special forces have been sent to the spot to launch a manhunt for the terrorists who fled the spot after launching the attack on the security forces. "We will try out best to track down the attackers, suspected to be from Pakistan," he said.

The latest terror attack came days after the Indian Army claimed to have carried out "surgical strikes" against multiple terror camps across the Line of Control in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir in the wake of a militant strike on an Army camp in Uri in Indian-controlled Kashmir earlier last month.

India accuses Pakistan for the Uri terror attack, a claim denied by Islamabad. Endit
