Singapore "deeply saddened" at passing of Thai King: MFA

Singapore is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and the government and people of Singapore convey their condolences to the Royal Family, Thai government and its people, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in a statement on Thursday.

The ministry said King Bhumibol was an outstanding and deeply revered monarch. Throughout his long reign, he worked tirelessly for the betterment of the Thai people. MFA noted that King Bhumibol also made great contributions for the enduring friendship between Thailand and Singapore.

"King Bhumibol will long be remembered and respected both in the Kingdom of Thailand and around the world for his devotion to his people," added MFA.

King Bhumibol passed away on Thursday after a long illness, the Bureau of Royal Household said in a statement. Endit
