Philippine president to visit Japan on October 25 to 27

Philippine President will undertake an official visit to Japan later this month upon the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Wednesday.

Duterte will be in Tokyo on October 25 to 27, his first since he assumed office on June 30.

"During his visit, the President will meet with the Japanese Prime Minister. He will also make a State Call on His Majesty Emperor Akihito of Japan," the DFA said in a statement.

Duterte has hailed Japan as the top source of official development assistance.

Japan was the top importer of Philippine products, accounting for 20.4 percent in August. The Philippine Statistics Authority reported that exports to Japan amounted to 1.002 billion during the month. Endit
