Chinese FM reaffirms one-China policy for Taiwan in int'l activities

Xinhua, October 11, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Tuesday reaffirmed that adherence to one-China policy is the prerequisite for Taiwan to conduct contacts with foreign countries or participate in international activities.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang made the remarks in response to a question concerning Taiwan's leader Tsai Ing-wen's speech earlier on Monday.

It is universally recognized by the international community that there is only one China in the world, and both the mainland and Taiwan belong to one China, Geng told a daily press briefing.

"Our constant position in dealing with Taiwan's relations with foreign countries and participation in international activities is to adhere to the one-China policy, and to oppose any notions of 'Taiwan independence,' 'two Chinas,' and 'one China, one Taiwan,'" Geng said. Endi
