Floods hit northern Albania

Xinhua, October 11, 2016 Adjust font size:

Floods following heavy rainfalls hit Albania Monday night, especially in the northern part, where one person was killed and 50 families were evacuated.

A 48-year-old man was killed after he was swallowed by high tides Monday night in the city of Lac, northwest of the capital city of Tirana.

Officials announced Tuesday morning that some 50 families in Lac and Milot in northwestern Albania have been evacuated from their flooded houses.

Albanian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Edmond Panariti, who inspected Lac Tuesday, called on the local residents to quit their homes for the time being. Endi
