Singapore stocks close 0.17 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 5 points, or 0.17 percent, to close at 2,870.24.

A total of 2.21 billion shares changed hands with turnover of 631.5 million Singapore dollars (459.7 million U.S. dollars).

Gainers outnumbered decliners 197 to 181, while 523 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 9.98 points, or 0.35 percent, to close at 2,875.24 on Friday. Endit
