The following are highlights of South African major media outlets on Saturday.
-- The Presidency said on Friday it has noted the Constitutional Court's decision not to hear the National Prosecuting Authority's (NPA's) application for leave to appeal against the corruption charges against President Jacob Zuma at this stage.
"The president awaits the decision of the Supreme Court of Appeal in respect of a petition which he launched on the same matter," said spokesman Bongani Ngqulunga.(Business Day).
-- The Constitutional Court's refusal to hear the NPA's application for leave to appeal the order to reinstate corruption charges against President Jacob Zuma was because of a similar, pending appeal at the Supreme Court of Appeal.
NPA spokesperson Luvuyo Mfaku said on Friday that the Constitutional Court's order, dated September 28, did not reflect the merits of the appeal.(News24).
-- Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande said on Friday the government has done everything possible to convince students to resume lectures.
He was reacting to the ongoing protests at universities and pledges from students leaders to lock down the institutions. Scores of students have been arrested since the protests started last month.
