87 pct of investors find Malta attractive location: report

Xinhua, October 7, 2016 Adjust font size:

A total 87 percent of investors find Malta to be an attractive location to do business, said Ernst and Young (EY)'s Malta Attractiveness Survey 2016 presented on Friday.

Attractiveness refers to a number of factors which would attract foreign investors to set up shop in a particular country.

In the case of Malta, 91 percent of the foreign direct investors surveyed found corporate taxation favorable and 88 percent found social stability to be attractive.

According to the report, 58 percent of the foreign investors believe Malta will remain attractive in three years and 39 percent were non-committal on the issue.

Meanwhile, more than half of those surveyed said they intended to expand operations in Malta in a year.

However, EY's report also found that business confidence in the stability and transparency of Malta's political, legal and regulatory environment has slumped by 15 percent since last year. Endit
