Xinhua, October 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

Tokyo stocks gained Thursday morning as robust U.S. non-manufacturing data saw Wall Street rally overnight and the yen weaken versus the U.S. dollar, which gave exporter-linked issues here a boost.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 96.70 points, or 0.57 percent, from Wednesday to 16,915.94.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 7.80 points, or 0.58 percent, at 1,355.61.

Notable issues that advanced by the morning break comprised mining, insurance, and oil and coal product-linked stocks. Endit
