Brazil midfielder Giuliano hoping to repay coach's faith

Xinhua, October 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

Midfielder Giuliano said that he hopes to repay the faith shown in him by Brazil coach Tite when the Selecao host Bolivia in a World Cup qualifier here on Thursday.

Giuliano, who has been capped nine times for Brazil, is expected to replace suspended Guangzhou Evergrande midfielder Paulinho in the Selecao's starting lineup at Arena das Dunas.

"I know that I have Tite's confidence. He's giving me an opportunity. If he called me up it's because he believes in me," the Zenit Saint Petersburg player said. "I have to do my past. It's the chance of a lifetime."

Giuliano has been in impressive form for the Russian club, scoring six times from seven appearances since his July move from Gremio.

Brazil are currently second in the 10-team South American qualifying group for the 2018 World Cup in Russia. The clash against Bolivia will be followed by another qualifier against Venezuela in the Andean city of Merida next Tuesday. Endit
