Nuzman re-elected as Brazilian Olympic Committee head

Xinhua, October 5, 2016 Adjust font size:

Rio 2016 chief Carlos Nuzman was re-elected unopposed as president of the Brazilian Olympic Committee for a sixth term on Tuesday.

The 74-year-old, who has held the role since 1995, will remain in charge until 2020, when he will be forced to finally step down due to new rules that limit the number of mandates of leaders of Brazil's publicly funded sports bodies.

"The majority of the members asked me to stay, to continue the legacy of 2016," Nuzman told reporters.

"I felt the need to continue, to give a little bit more than I already have."

Nuzman received 24 votes in his favor and one against with one null vote and three abstentions. Endit
