At least four civilians were killed and 30 others injured as a motorbike bomb ripped through a bazaar in Darzab district of the northern Jauzjan province with Shiberghan as its capital 390 km north of Kabul on Monday, police said.

"Terrorists placed explosive device into the cavities of a motorbike in the bazaar of Darzab district and detonated it among innocent people who were busy in shopping in the bazaar at around 10:30 a.m. local time today killing four innocent civilians and injuring 30 others," deputy to provincial police chief Abdul Hafiz Khashi told Xinhua.

Without giving more details, he added that investigation has been initiated into the case.

Meantime, member of Jauzjan provincial council, Halima Sadat has confirmed the incident, saying six people were killed and some 80 others sustained injuries.

Taliban militants who are active in parts of the restive Jauzjan province have yet to make comment on the bloody bombing. Enditem
