Belarus to increase tariffs by 50 pct for oil transit

Xinhua, October 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

Tariffs for oil transit through Belarusian pipelines will increase by 50 percent, according to the country's ministry of antitrust and trade.

The ministry signed a decree published on Saturday on the National Legal Internet Portal.

The new rules affect oil transportation through pipelines "Gomeltransoil Friendship" and "Polotsktransneft Druzhba" from Russia to other countries of Europe.

The document comes into force 10 days after official publication.

Last time the tariffs for oil transit rose on Feb. 1, 2016.

Moscow and Minsk have been debating about gas and oil supplies for a few months. Belarusian Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said earlier that one thousand cubic meters of gas should cost 80, not 132 U.S. dollar. Russia believes that in the first half of 2016, Belarus owed more than 270 million dollars for delivered Russian gas.

In the third quarter, Moscow also decided to restrict the supply of oil from Russia to Belarus. Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko accused Russia of putting the pressure on his country. Endit
