Indian army chief reviews security situation in Indian-controlled Kashmir

Xinhua, October 1, 2016 Adjust font size:

Indian Army Chief General Dalbir Singh on Saturday visited Indian-controlled Kashmir to review the security situation along the border and the Line of Control (LoC).

It was Singh's first visit to the disputed territory after the Indian army on Thursday claimed to have carried out "surgical strikes" across the LoC in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir and eliminated multiple terror launch pads.

His visit came after India claimed that Pakistan violated ceasefire and targeted its posts along the LoC in the northern state's Akhnoor town. However, there have been no reports of any casualty or damage to properties.

Pakistan has denied the raids by India and accused India of "fabrication of truth," alleging that what in fact took place was unprovoked cross-border firing by India. Endit
