Belarus external debt up 7.2 percent

Belarus' external debt amounted to 13.3 billion U.S. dollars as of September 2016, the country's foreign ministry said on Friday.

Belarus external debt increased by 896 million dollars, or 7.2 percent from the beginning of the year, it said.

During the first eight months of the year, Belarus has attracted 1.367 billion dollars as foreign government loans, the ministry said.

The largest funds came from Eurasia Foundation (800 million dollars), Russian banks (287.9 million dollars), Chinese banks (206.8 million dollars), and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (70.5 million dollars).

Since the beginning of the year, Belarus spent 568 million dollars to repay its foreign debt. Endit
