China arrests sixth man from telecoms fraud fugitive list

Xinhua, September 30, 2016 Adjust font size:

A man suspected of telecom and cyber fraud has been arrested by police, the sixth arrested from 10 fugitives listed in a class-A warrant.

Xie Zhi'an, 30, was captured on Thursday in south China's Fujian Province, after being in hiding for about two years, the Ministry of Public Security said Friday.

He was accused of money laundering for telecom and cyber fraud rings, involving more than 20 million yuan (about 3 million U.S. dollars).

The ministry issued a warrant for 10 fugitives on Monday, including Xie, as it reinforced efforts to crack down on the telecom and cyber fraud that is widely resented by the Chinese people.

Five of the suspects turned themselves in earlier this week, after the warrant was released. Endi
