Monchengladbach's Raffael sidelined with thigh injury

Xinhua, September 30, 2016 Adjust font size:

Brazilian Raffael will be out of action for the time being due to a torn hamstring, Monchenggladbach confirmed in an official statement via the club's homepage on Thursday.

This was revealed by a medical examination undertaken by club doctor Stena Porten. It means that Monchengladbach not only lost 2-1 to Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League group stage, but they also lost their main playmaker.

As a result, the attacking midfielder, who provided 41 goals in 99 Bundesliga appearances since his arrival in 2013, will be sidelined for the time being. Raffael had to be replaced by Fabian Johnson against Barcelona, and was seen limping off the pitch after half time.
