Tokyo shares rally in morning on rising oil prices

Xinhua, September 29, 2016 Adjust font size:

Tokyo shares bounced back Thursday morning on strong U.S. stocks overnight following rise of oil prices after members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries agreed to cut crude oil output.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 233.78 points, or 1.42 percent, from Wednesday to 16,699.18.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was up 12.39 points, or 0.93 percent, at 1,343.16.

Gainers were led by mining, iron and steel, and oil and coal product issues. Endit
