Albania up 13 places in world competitiveness ranking

Albania has jumped 13 places in the annual World Economic Forum's global competitiveness ranking, the Albanian ministry of economic development informed on Wednesday.

According to the Global Competitiveness Index 2016 to 2017, Albania ranked 80 out of 138 countries, marking a significant improvement from last year when it was ranked in 93rd place.

The ministry of economic development declared Albania had shown a marked improvement in indicators such as macro-economic climate, higher education and trainings, financial markets development, innovation and business sophistication, and technological readiness.

The ministry further said that compared to other countries in the region, Albania was better positioned, leaving behind Greece, Montenegro, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Over the past two years, Albania has jumped 17 places in the global competitiveness ranking. Endit
