The following are news highlights in South Africa's major media outlets on Wednesday.

-- South Africa is a victim of its own success, with many having forgotten the African National Congress'(ANC) progress towards providing free education, said party secretary general Gwede Mantashe Tuesday.

He said there were around 150,000 black students at universities across the country in 1994. Today there were over 800,000 thanks to government increasing funding for higher education. (News24)

-- Students from Wits University in Johannesburg will on Wednesday embark on a march to the Chamber of Mines to hand over a memorandum of demands.

Several university campuses remain closed due to violent protests over the last few weeks. (South African Broadcasting Corporation).

-- Telecommunication giant MTN denies that it illegally repatriated 14 billion U.S. dollars out of Nigeria, as alleged by Nigerian politicians in the country's senate.
