Kuwait provides Jordan 20 mln USD for hosting refugees

Xinhua, September 28, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development granted Jordan on Tuesday 20 million U.S. dollars for hosting Syrian refugees, the state-run Petra news agency reported.

The grant will be used to reduce pressure in the health sector, Jordan's Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury said.

He added that pressure has increased tremendously due to refugee influx, saying that more aid is needed from the international community.

Kuwaiti officials stressed support for Jordan in various sectors, especially amid the ongoing unrest in the Middle East.

They also said that more support will be extended to Jordan in the upcoming period.

The fund has paid about 580 million U.S. dollars to support Jordan since 1962. Endit
