Mainland's imports from HK rise sharply in first 7 months

The Chinese mainland's imports from Hong Kong reached 12.62 billion U.S. dollars in the first seven months of 2016, up 128.5 percent year on year, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

The mainland's exports to Hong Kong hit 156.87 billion U.S. dollars, a decrease of 5.4 percent year on year, ministry figures showed.

Trade between the mainland and Hong Kong totaled 169.49 billion U.S. dollars in the first seven months, down 1.1 percent year on year. The figure accounted for 8.4 percent of the mainland's total overseas trade in the first seven months.

The mainland approved 7,446 Hong Kong-invested projects from January to July in 2016, with the actual use of Hong Kong capital reaching 47.81 billion U.S. dollars, down 8.4 percent from the same period of last year.

As of the end of July, 393,659 Hong Kong-invested projects had been approved by mainland authorities and the actual use of Hong Kong capital totaled 881.13 billion U.S. dollars. Endit
