French coach Obry expects Chinese epee team to triumph at Tokyo Olympics

Xinhua, September 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

New coach of the Chinese national epee team, Hugues Obry from France, on Saturday showed his confidence in leading his team to top podium at the Tokyo Olympics.

Obry told reporters at the ongoing Chinese national fencing tournament that some Chinese fencers have great potential.

"In Rio, it was disappointed that the women's team didn't get any gold medal. However, we should not be so upset," he said.

Obry won an individual silver medal at the Sydney Olympics. Meanwhile he got a great credit by spearheading the French epee team to win several golds at world championships.

Hugues also said that his predecessor offered him positive tips. "Although there will be some difficulties in language, training and living together with players is necessary. And of course I will take his suggestion." Endit
