The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Friday.

-- Police in Zambia have launched an initiative aimed at fighting corruption among police officers.

Zambia Police Service Inspector General Kakoma Kanganja said the launch of the Service Charter shows the determination to fight corruption and enhance service delivery to the citizens.

The Charter will help in the sensitization of citizens on a number of procedures required to be undertaken in accessing essential services, as well as make them aware of the various regulations and offenses. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- A consortium of construction firms from the United States plan to visit Zambia and invest in the construction of cheaper and affordable houses as well as the construction of roads in rural parts of the country.

The visit follows an invitation by President Edgar Lungu during a meeting held in New York this week.

Lungu said investors should take advantage of the abundant natural resources in Zambia and invest in housing development, adding that the country has a housing deficit of 3 million houses. (Daily Nation)

-- Zambia's main opposition leader has demanded for the immediate release of his supporters who have remained incarcerated after being arrested during last month's disputed general elections.

Hakainde Hichilema, leader of the United Party for National Development (UPND), said his supporters should be released because they were not criminals but citizens who were fighting for their rights. He said his party will not rest but will continue to fight for freedom. (The Post) Endit
