Multiple injuries were reported when a metrobus derailed and crashed in Istanbul on Friday morning.

The metrobus hit at least three cars before crashing into a double decker on the highway in Kadikoy district, showed images broadcast on CNNTurk.

According to eyewitnesses on the metrobus, the accident happened when a passenger hit the driver during a quarrel, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

Ambulances and rescue teams were sent to the scene, while the police have launched an investigation, CNNTurk said.

Metrobus is a 50-km-long bus rapid transit route in Istanbul that passes through the 15 July Martyrs Bridge over the Bosphorus Strait linking the metropolis' Asian and European parts. Endit
