UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Thursday condemned the multiple airstrikes by the Saudi Arabia-led coalition on Sept. 21 in the Red Sea port city of Hudaydah, Yemen, which killed and injured dozens of people, including children and women.

The secretary-general said, in a statement issued here by his spokesman, "once again reminds all parties to the conflict that they must fully respect their obligations under international humanitarian law, in particular the fundamental rules of distinction, proportionality and precaution." DAMASCUS -- The Syrian army announced Thursday new military operations on rebel-held areas in the northern city of Aleppo, a few days after a U.S.-Russia brokered truce expired, according to the state news agency SANA.

The new military offensive will target the rebel-held eastern part of Aleppo city, said the statement, urging the civilians to stay away from the positions of the rebel groups. (Syria-Aleppo-Rebels)

SRINAGAR, Indian-controlled Kashmir -- Indian troops Thursday killed a militant in a gunfight in Indian-controlled Kashmir, officials said.

LAGOS -- Nigerian security forces have captured a suspected Niger Delta Avenger (NDA) militant in southern Delta State, a senior Navy official said Thursday.
