Inzko hails BiH progress towards EU

Xinhua, September 22, 2016 Adjust font size:

Valentin Inzko, the High Representative for Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), on Wednesday hailed BiH's progress towards the European Union (EU).

The EU's 28 member states on Tuesday in Brussels accepted BiH's membership application and ordered the European Commission to prepare an assessment of the Balkan country's readiness to join the bloc.

Inzko congratulated to the citizens of BiH, stating that BiH has made an important step towards the EU.

"BiH took an important step towards the EU, which I wholeheartedly support," Inzko said in a statement.

This is the beginning of a journey during which the elected leaders and institutions will need to show a willingness to transform the county in order to align BiH with European standards. It is a long journey and a process which must have real life issues as its focus, he added.

On Feb. 15 of this year, BiH formally submitted it's application to join the EU. Endit
