Ukraine sees economic cooperation with China as priority: official

Xinhua, September 22, 2016 Adjust font size:

Ukraine gives priority to developing its economic cooperation with China and wants to further strengthen bilateral trade and investment ties, a senior Ukrainian government official said on Wednesday.

"For Ukraine, China is one of the most important strategic partners among the countries around the world, thus we attach a particular importance to our trade, economic and investment cooperation," Natalia Mykolska, Ukraine's Deputy Economic Development and Trade Minister, wrote on her Facebook page.

Ukraine and China have broad prospects for further developing their cooperation in such areas as agriculture, IT sphere, infrastructure, space and aviation sectors, Mykolska said.

Besides, Ukraine is interested in attracting more Chinese investment into export-oriented sectors and establishing joint industrial ventures with China, she added.

In 2015, Ukraine has attracted 22.6 million U.S. dollars worth of investment from China in its industrial, agriculture, transport and trade sectors, Mykolska said.

Ukraine's statistics showed China became the second-largest partner of the East European country last year, with bilateral trade amounting to 6.17 billion dollars. Endit
